The Gold Coast police are advising people to expect some disruption and to check the situation before travelling.
A Gold Coast man who has been on the city’s public transport system for more than a year has been reported missing.
Michael Hartley, who has since been reported by police to be in a critical condition, has been in and out of hospital with multiple fractures.
The man was due to fly home to Sydney from Sydney airport on Monday.
He had been travelling on the public transport network to attend a wedding.
“We have been in contact with the Gold Coasters police, who are assisting with this matter,” Gold Coast Police Detective Superintendent Greg McKeown said.
Police say he was on the network for more that a year.
In a statement, Gold Coast Chief Minister Lara Giddings said it was “very difficult” to understand how someone could leave the Gold Corral and go to the Gold Country.
“[The man] is very close to his family, and the Gold Cores Police Force have been advised of his disappearance and are working with him to try and locate him,” Ms Giddies said.
Police are urging people to plan their travel plans well in case they have to travel at night.
They are asking people to check their travel itineraries and to contact the GoldCoaster Travel Service at 1313 1313.
