How the Seahawks will fill the void at running back

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reports the Seahawks have begun “preliminary” discussions with former San Francisco 49ers running back Marshawn Lynch.

Rapoports reports the discussions are preliminary, but the team is expected to announce the trade in the next 24 hours.

Lynch has been linked to a trade with the Cleveland Browns and Tennessee Titans, but he’s not considered a free agent at this point.

He’s been linked by NFL Network’s Michael Silver and multiple other media outlets to the Houston Texans and New England Patriots, but those teams have no plans to trade for him.

Lynch played in five games for the 49ers last season after signing a one-year deal with Seattle in the offseason.

The Seahawks signed Lynch in February.
