The latest quarterly results from the Australian Government’s Bureau of Statistics are a major lift for Prime Minister Tony Abbott and his conservative government.
The ABS’ release of the results was delayed, but by midday on Thursday, the ABS had released the data for the first quarter of the year.
It’s important to note that the ABS has not yet released the quarterly data for Q3 2019.
That’s because the ABS did not have enough data to produce the full quarterly data in the first place.
So we will see a snapshot of quarterly data as soon as the ABS is able to produce that data, a spokesman said.
And the latest data shows that employment in the construction and extraction industries has risen by more than 2 per cent in the last year.
